Cheshire Oset Cup 2017 Round 2

The second round of the 2017, 2 Machs Motorcycles, Cheshire Oset Cup ran in bright sunshine on Sunday April 9th. Some new sections were unearthed after the redevelopment of the venue last year by the Frodsham trials club. 47 riders ranging from age 4 to 13 took part riding 5 sections, 4 times each.

William Sagar continued his winning streak making it two out of two in the Expert class. Dropping 14 marks on the day, the banked, twisty exit of section 5 taking a few marks. Young Ellis Barton, last season’s intermediate champion, had an excellent ride against some strong competition to finish in second place on 26 marks. Closely followed by Dylan Ratcliffe on 33 marks, getting to grips with his Oset 24.

Aidan Williams convincingly won the Youth C inters class, dropping just three odd dabs for the day, perhaps a step up to the Expert class beckons? Dan Douglas, who has competed in the series since it’s humble beginnings, followed on 5 marks. The 2016 rider of the season Liam Campbell completed the podium, dropping 11 marks with a great ride. James Wyatt and Luke Robinson-Gerrard duked out the youth C Novice class with James taking the honours.

Youth D Inters was won by Molly Barber on just one single mark over some very tricky sections. Well done Molly! Joe Stubbings and Jack Gould both dropped 6 marks with Joe taking second place with a greater number of cleans. Owen Good followed in fourth place on 12 marks.

Ryan Ratcliffe took the Youth D Novice honours on 18 marks. Lukas Longshaw followed, and grinned all the way too, with his best ride to date on 29 marks.  Just one mark further back and completing the podium was Connor Thompson.

The Youth E Novice class is seeing a much larger entry than in the last couple of seasons, it’s great to see the 4 year olds smiling their way around the course. Young Logan Price continues to improve every event and deservedly won the class on 35 marks. Alfie Rogers followed 60 marks. With the final podium spot a three way tie on 68 marks, taken by Ioan Lloyds from Jody Dawson and Mason Dean. Newcomer for 2017 Luca Lanzi followed on 72 marks, well done to all!

As always many thanks to the observers, it was great to have all sections manned (or womanned?), the observers raffle and £50 was won by Lisa Gerrard so the drinks are on her! Also thanks to Matt Barber for his time and effort marking the sections out.

The next round of the series is scheduled for May 7th at Frodsham Caves. We look forward to seeing you there.
