2016 Cheshire Oset Cup Round 7, Results, Report & Video

The 2 Machs Motorcycles, Cheshire, Oset Cup 2016 championship came to a close at the Alvanley trials ground on November 27th. 44 riders, ranging from 4 to 12 years old and from novice to expert, competed in the slippery conditions. The sections were set over the natural obstacles of the land, although some turned out to give more grip than was expected meaning some really impressive low scores for the front runners on the score-cards.

Ever smiling Ethan Richardson ended the series on a high winning the Expert class by just one mark from the newly crowned 2016 Expert champion Stefan Jones. An excellent clean on the toughest section of the day (number 3), a turn across some decent sized rocks, made all the difference to Ethan. Joe Drysdale, a huge improver this season, completed the podium after a long drive down from Scotland. Will Hughes showed a new side to his riding with some more delicate throttle application and less jumps to finish in fourth place. Callum Heath, already crowned the 2016 intermediate champion, stepped up to the Experts for the final round and showed great promise for next season.

The C class inters was a close fought battle with Dan Douglas and Charlotte Drysdale both finishing on 2 marks, Dan taking the win by furthest clean. Connor Woodman finished in third place on 4 marks with Ellie Molyneaux on 6. With easier conditions than expected just a few dabs made a big difference to the finishing position.

2016 champion Keeva Wilcock aced the C class Novices losing just four marks. Last meeting’s Rider of the day Jake Horrocks was second on 32, just two marks ahead of James Wyatt on 34.

D Class Inters was another closely fought affair. Three riders finished on one mark, having to be decided by the furthest clean. Jess Widdowson took the victory from, the new 2016 champion, Ellis Barton who was second, Ted Mackman followed in third with his best result of the series. Molly Barber finished fourth on just 2 marks, followed by championship runner up Joe Chard on 3. The top nine riders all dropping under 10 marks, a few odd marks are always costly on these sort of days.

D class Novice 2016 Champion, Owen Good, finished off his first season of trials with a win on just one mark (that he didn’t need!). Owen now looks set to move to the Inters for next year after very fast progression in the sport. Issac Tilson and Oscar Pattinson both dropped just 2 marks, Issac taking second place by way of most cleans. Third in the 2016 championship, Jobe Griffiths, had two fives all day to finish in fourth place by most cleans from Sam Long. Second in the championship Milly Powell dropped 18 marks to finish in ninth place on the day. Another rider who is showing some great improvement is Sammy Ashton, 17 marks lost and eighth place, Sammy showing some real fighting spirit, well done!

Zach Reynolds finished with four wins out of his four rides in 2016, a great ride, losing just 15 marks on the day. Connor Thompson followed on 41 with 2016 Champion Theo Bottle finishing in third on 68.
